The AVN Best Editing 2026 trophy went to Mz Montage, Boris Dongson and Steve McQueef for Deadly Vows, a Digital Playground feature directed by Ricky Greenwood. As a working UK editor, I think this category deserves more attention than it gets, so here is a closer look.
AVN Best Editing 2026: the winning team
The 43rd AVN Awards took place on 24 January 2026 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Nominees were announced on 21 November 2025. Deadly Vows also won Best Music, while Greenwood picked up a directing award for the same title. In short, it was a strong night for that production.
A three-editor credit is worth noting. Features like this often split the work, for example between story assembly, scene cutting and final polish. However, the public credits do not say how this team divided the job, so I will not guess.

According to the official AVN winners page and the published nominee list, the field also included:

- Escape From Camp Conversion (Girlcore/Adult Time/Pulse) – Pound Cake
- Hollywood Whore: A Jennifer White Showcase Film (Elegant Angel) – Evil Ricky

- Strip (Dorcel/Pulse) – Bob le Flambeur
- Trinity (Deeper) – Jason H
- Visions: Luna Luxxx (SkinVision/Alt Erotic) – Deet
- Wouldn’t Hurt a Fly (Deeper/Pulse) – Dick Hardpole
One more title, Transpirella from Gender X Films, was also nominated. Its editor credit appears inconsistently across listings, so I have left the name out rather than risk getting it wrong.
What editors can take from the AVN Best Editing 2026 shortlist
Notice how many of these nominees are narrative features. Story-led releases give editors room to shape tension, pace dialogue and build a mood. Meanwhile, gonzo and tube work rewards different skills, such as tight trims and strong thumbnails.
Both matter commercially. That said, award juries tend to favour work where the edit is clearly visible as storytelling. Therefore, if you want to sharpen your own reel, study pacing in features and then apply the same discipline to shorter cuts.
